TB NETBible YUN-IBR Ref. Silang Nama Gambar Himne

Yehezkiel 8:11-12

Konteks
8:11 Seventy men from the elders of the house of Israel 1  (with Jaazaniah son of Shaphan standing among them) were standing in front of them, each with a censer in his hand, and fragrant 2  vapors from a cloud of incense were swirling upward.

8:12 He said to me, “Do you see, son of man, what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the dark, each in the chamber of his idolatrous images? 3  For they think, ‘The Lord does not see us! The Lord has abandoned the land!’”

Yehezkiel 8:16

Konteks

8:16 Then he brought me to the inner court of the Lord’s house. Right there 4  at the entrance to the Lord’s temple, between the porch and the altar, 5  were about twenty-five 6  men with their backs to the Lord’s temple, 7  facing east – they were worshiping the sun 8  toward the east!

Yehezkiel 9:6

Konteks
9:6 Old men, young men, young women, little children, and women – wipe them out! But do not touch anyone who has the mark. Begin at my sanctuary!” So they began with the elders who were at the front of the temple.

Yehezkiel 11:1

Konteks
The Fall of Jerusalem

11:1 A wind 9  lifted me up and brought me to the east gate of the Lord’s temple that faces the east. There, at the entrance of the gate, I noticed twenty-five men. Among them I saw Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, officials of the people. 10

Yehezkiel 18:30

Konteks

18:30 “Therefore I will judge each person according to his conduct, 11  O house of Israel, declares the sovereign Lord. Repent 12  and turn from all your wickedness; then it will not be an obstacle leading to iniquity. 13

Yehezkiel 20:8

Konteks
20:8 But they rebelled against me, and refused to listen to me; no one got rid of their detestable idols, 14  nor did they abandon the idols of Egypt. Then I decided to pour out 15  my rage on them and fully vent my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

Yehezkiel 20:39

Konteks

20:39 “‘As for you, O house of Israel, this is what the sovereign Lord says: Each of you go and serve your idols, 16  if you will not listen to me. 17  But my holy name will not be profaned 18  again by your sacrifices 19  and your idols.

Yehezkiel 33:2

Konteks
33:2 “Son of man, speak to your people, 20  and say to them, ‘Suppose I bring a sword against the land, and the people of the land take one man from their borders and make him their watchman.

Yehezkiel 33:30

Konteks

33:30 “But as for you, son of man, your people 21  (who are talking about you by the walls and at the doors of the houses) say to one another, 22  ‘Come hear the word that comes 23  from the Lord.’

[8:11]  1 sn Note the contrast between these seventy men who represented Israel and the seventy elders who ate the covenant meal before God, inaugurating the covenant relationship (Exod 24:1, 9).

[8:11]  2 tn The Hebrew word occurs only here in the OT.

[8:12]  3 tn Heb “the room of his images.” The adjective “idolatrous” has been supplied in the translation for clarity.

[8:12]  sn This type of image is explicitly prohibited in the Mosaic law (Lev 26:1).

[8:16]  4 tn The word הִנֵּה (hinneh, traditionally “behold”) indicates becoming aware of something.

[8:16]  5 sn The priests prayed to God between the porch and the altar on fast days (Joel 2:17). This is the location where Zechariah was murdered (Matt 23:35).

[8:16]  6 tc The LXX reads “twenty” instead of twenty-five, perhaps because of the association of the number twenty with the Mesopotamian sun god Shamash.

[8:16]  tn Or “exactly twenty-five.”

[8:16]  7 sn The temple faced east.

[8:16]  8 tn Or “the sun god.”

[8:16]  sn The worship of astral entities may have begun during the reign of Manasseh (2 Kgs 21:5).

[11:1]  9 tn Or “spirit.” See note on “wind” in 2:2.

[11:1]  10 sn The phrase officials of the people occurs in Neh 11:1; 1 Chr 21:2; 2 Chr 24:23.

[18:30]  11 tn Heb “ways.”

[18:30]  12 tn The verbs and persons in this verse are plural whereas the individual has been the subject of the chapter.

[18:30]  13 tn Or “leading to punishment.”

[20:8]  14 tn Heb “each one, the detestable things of their eyes did not throw away.”

[20:8]  15 tn Heb “and I said/thought to pour out.”

[20:39]  16 sn Compare the irony here to Amos 4:4 and Jer 44:25.

[20:39]  17 tn Heb “and after, if you will not listen to me.” The translation leaves out “and after” for smoothness. The text is difficult. M. Greenberg (Ezekiel [AB], 1:374) suggests that it may mean “but afterwards, if you will not listen to me…” with an unspoken threat.

[20:39]  18 sn A similar concept may be found in Lev 18:21; 20:3.

[20:39]  19 tn Or “gifts.”

[33:2]  20 tn Heb “sons of your people.”

[33:30]  21 tn Heb “sons of your people.”

[33:30]  22 tn Heb “one to one, a man to his brother.”

[33:30]  23 tn Heb “comes out.”
